Biomet 3i® External Hex Compatible Abutments & Parts

Titan Implants manufactures a full line of components compatible with Biomet 3i external hex implants, including T3, Osseotite, Full Osseotite, Nanotite, and classic 3i external hex fixtures. Every part is machined from Grade 23 titanium (Ti-6Al-4V ELI) at our facility in Bergenfield, New Jersey, and verified against the original prosthetic specifications. Components are organized by seating surface diameter.

Components by Seating Surface

• 3.4mm Seating Surface (3.25mm body): Healing abutments, impression copings, analogs, straight locking abutments, castable abutments, titanium bases, bar posts, ball abutments, and conical abutment attachments. Cover screws available.
• 4.1mm Seating Surface: Full component lineup including healing abutments, impression copings, analogs, straight abutments, multi-unit abutments, post abutments, temporary abutments, castable abutments, titanium bases, bar posts, ball abutments, conical abutment attachments, transmucosal standard abutments, and cover screws.
• 5.0mm Seating Surface: Healing abutments, impression copings, analogs, straight abutments, castable abutments, titanium bases, bar posts, and conical abutment attachments. Cover screws available.
• 6.0mm Seating Surface: Healing abutments, impression copings, analogs, straight locking abutments, castable abutments, bar posts, conical abutment attachments, and cover screws.

Titan Design Simple Step Abutments

Titan’s proprietary Simple Step abutment is available for the 3i external hex 4.1mm and 5.0mm platforms. A one-piece screw-retained abutment that can be prepared chairside or in the lab. The Simple Step features a hex surface instead of a flat side, offering three emergence profile diameters and multiple prep heights and collar heights for precise site matching.

Conical Abutment System Compatible

Titan manufactures compatible abutment-level components for the 3i external hex conical abutment system. These are restorative parts that seat onto the conical abutment itself, not directly onto the implant. Available across 3.4mm, 4.1mm, 5.0mm, and 6.0mm seating surfaces:

Immediate Occlusal Loading (IOL) Bar Post

Titan Implant Locator Pin for 3i External Hex

Titan’s proprietary Implant Locator Pin (M2 thread for 3i external hex) simplifies abutment and impression coping seating:

1. Thread the guide pin into the implant by hand using the serrated handle.
2. Slide the abutment or impression coping over the pin head. The tight tolerance holds the component in parallel alignment.
3. Remove the locator pin and insert the final titanium screw.

Especially useful in posterior sites with limited visibility, for verifying parallelism across multiple implants, and in the laboratory for wax-up fabrication on analogs.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between 3i external hex and 3i Certain?

The 3i external hex uses an external connection measured by seating surface diameter (3.4, 4.1, 5.0, 6.0mm). The Certain system uses an internal hex connection with color-coded platforms (purple, blue, yellow, green). Components are not interchangeable between the two.

Which 3i implant lines are compatible?
