ZimVie TSV / TSX Compatible Abutment Selection Guide

Four checks to choose a Titan compatible abutment for Zimmer / ZimVie Tapered Screw-Vent (TSV) and TSX implants. Titan stocks more emergence-profile diameters and collar heights for these platforms than the OEM catalog.

Check the generation, not just the diameter. A 4.7mm or 6.0mm body routes to a different platform on TSV than on TSX. Confirm both on the surgical record before ordering. This is the most common TSV/TSX ordering error.

Step 1: Confirm your platform

Find the body diameter and generation (TSV or TSX) on the surgical record or implant packaging, then read across.

Step 2: Choose the emergence profile

The emergence profile is the abutment’s widest point at the gingival margin. Match it to the cervical diameter of the tooth being replaced.

  • Narrower: anteriors, tight interdental spaces, or where you want tissue to fill in.
  • Wider: premolars and molars, to support tissue under a broader crown.

Step 3: Choose the collar height

Probe tissue depth from the implant platform to the gingival crest. Choose the collar that puts the shoulder at or just below the margin. Titan offers more collar-height increments than the OEM, so you can place the margin where you want it. Full method in our abutment sizing guide.

Step 4: Seat with the locator pin

Titan’s Implant Locator Pin threads into the implant, and the abutment slides over it for guided, parallel seating. The TSV/TSX pin (1-72-ILP-22) uses the same thread as the Zimmer internal hex fixture mount.

Frequently asked questions

Are TSV and TSX components interchangeable?
Yes, at the prosthetic level. Both share the same internal hex connection. Only the body-diameter-to-platform routing differs (Step 1).

My surgical record only says “4.7mm Zimmer.”
TSV 4.7 uses the 4.5mm platform; TSX 4.7 uses the 3.5mm platform. If the record is unclear, call us with the lot number or record details and we’ll identify it.
