A two-piece engaging straight abutment for cement-retained single crowns and splinted multi-unit restorations on the ZimVie / Biomet 3i Certain internal hex connection, 5.0mm seating surface. The hex engages the implant's anti-rotation geometry, so the abutment is indexed to the fixture and will not spin under function. A flat side on the axial wall gives the crown a positive path of insertion and a repeatable seat for try-in. The 5.0mm platform is most often placed in premolar and molar sites. Supplied with a titanium fixation screw.

Which implants use the 5.0mm platform?

The Certain 5.0mm seating surface (yellow platform) is found on 5.0mm diameter Certain implants and on platform-switched implants whose reference number reads 6/5. On a 3i platform-switched designation the second figure identifies the prosthetic platform, not the implant body — so a 6/5 implant restores on 5.0mm components, not 6.0mm. If you are unsure which platform is in the mouth, send the implant reference number or the surgical record and we will identify the platform before you order.

Engaging vs. non-engaging

This SKU is the locking (engaging) design only — the hex is always engaged, and there is no non-locking version of this abutment. Two other routes exist on the 5.0mm platform:

• Bar Abutment Laser-Weld (T-5ICA-12) — non-engaging, for cement-retained bars and fixed-detachable frameworks.
• Castable UCLA sleeves — plastic burnout patterns supplied with a titanium screw, in both hex (engaging) and non-hex (non-engaging) formats, for waxing and casting to a custom form.

The non-engaging components do not index to the implant hex, so they tolerate the inter-implant divergence that defeats a locking abutment on a splinted span.

• Start with the healing abutment already in place — its profile and height often guide the final abutment choice.
• Use the Titan Implants Locator Pin to verify parallelism and available height before final selection.
• Provide the lab with implant platform size, soft tissue thickness, desired margin position, and photographs or radiographs.

Recommended accessory

The Titan Implants Locator Pin (M1.6-ILP-22) is the correct pin for the Certain internal hex connection. Thread the pin into the fixture first to check parallelism and available height, then slide this component down the pin and into place — useful in posterior sites and wherever access or visibility is limited. Withdraw the pin and replace it with the fixation screw. Works with two-piece components only.
