Transmucosal standard abutment is an intermediate abutment that is placed between the implant and metal/framework restoration and is used for multiple (splinted) fixed removable (hybrid) restorations and for bar-supporter (attachment retained) overdenture restorations. They are permanent abutments used when multiple implants are placed in deep, thin biotype tissue to bring the restorative platform of the implant from bone level to the tissue level. The transmucosal abutment allows the implant framework to be removed without having to temporarily re-insert healing abutments. Correcting angles of divergently placed implants, determining framework passivity, redirecting trajectory of prosthetic screws for more esthetic or functional direction can all be achieved with the use of transmucosal standard intermediate abutments.
