Titanium temporary abutment for Straumann® Tissue Level implants with the WN 6.5mm internal octagon connection. Also called a provisional abutment, temporary cylinder, or interim abutment. Machined to the referenced system's original prosthetic specifications.
Check the shoulder, not the implant body. RN and WN synOcta parts are not interchangeable — a WN component requires a 6.5mm shoulder. This is the most common ordering error on tissue level cases. For a 4.8mm shoulder, order ITI-48SOTA.
- Available in Locking and Non-Locking. The locking base engages the internal octagon, so the provisional is indexed and anti-rotational and can be removed and reseated in a known position across appointments.
- Textured coronal wall gives provisional acrylic or composite a mechanical bond. Build chairside or on the model, then refine the contour as tissue matures.
- Built for the wide-diameter site. WN implants typically sit in molar positions, where the provisional carries a larger occlusal table. The 6.5mm shoulder gives the acrylic a wider base of support and a shorter, broader emergence path than the RN equivalent.
- Shapes what the definitive crown inherits. The provisional develops the emergence profile and papilla architecture, and lets you test contour, contact, and occlusion before committing to the final restoration.
- Restores at implant level. Seats directly on the implant shoulder. If a WN solid or screw-retained abutment is already placed, you need a coping for that abutment instead.
- synOcta connection, introduced 1999. Tissue level implants placed before then have the 8° Morse taper but no octagon, and an octagon-engaging component will not index. A radiograph or the patient's implant passport usually settles it.
- Interim use only. Provisional restorations are not intended for definitive service.
