All-plastic burnout pattern compatible with the conical abutment used on the Steri-Oss HL-Series implant system, 5.0 and 6.0mm. Produced to the referenced system's original prosthetic specifications.
This seats on the abutment, not on the implant. The conical abutment is already screwed into the implant; this coping goes over it and the technician waxes and casts the superstructure on top. It will not seat on a bare implant platform. Where the restoration is being built directly on the implant, the part needed is an implant-level castable abutment — see the HL-Series 5.0mm plastic sleeve (S-5PS) or 6.0mm plastic sleeve (S-6PS).
Hexed and non-hexed. Hexed indexes to the abutment's anti-rotational feature and is used for single units. Non-hexed is rotational, which is what allows two or more copings to seat on a common path of insertion — the normal choice for splinted bridges and bars over conical abutments, since achieving passive seating across several abutments requires rotational freedom at each.
One coping covers both 5.0 and 6.0mm. The Steri-Oss conical abutment presents the same coronal geometry whether it was placed on a 5.0mm or 6.0mm implant, so a single coping serves both. That is a property of the abutment, not the implant — which is the general rule for abutment-level components and the reason platform diameter is the wrong thing to match on here.
Steri-Oss is discontinued, and this is often the only route left. The HL-Series is no longer manufactured and original prosthetic components are largely unavailable. Cases restored over Steri-Oss conical abutments — remakes, a fractured bridge, a new unit added to an existing case — usually cannot be solved with a stock abutment, because none is still made in the required geometry. A castable coping lets the technician cast whatever the case needs from the abutment up.
The retaining screw seats into the abutment. It is not an implant-level screw and the two are not interchangeable. An implant abutment screw will not retain this coping.
Casting. Supplied as a sacrificial pattern formulated to burn out under a standard investment casting cycle. Follow your investment manufacturer's recommended burnout schedule — complete elimination of the pattern depends on reaching and holding the specified temperature. The finished restoration is the cast metal; this component does not remain in service.
Verify on the analog before wax-up. Seat the coping on the conical abutment or its analog and confirm full seating before adding wax. A molded plastic connection carries greater tolerance than a machined metal one, and on a multi-unit case the fit should be verified at every unit rather than assumed from one.
Grade 23 ELI titanium (Ti-6Al-4V, ASTM F136) retaining screw included.
