Titan Implants Inc carries two options of straight abutments available to restore 3i Certain implants: the Titan Straight Locking Implant Abutment Flat which comes with a flat side surface, collar heights 1,2,3, and 4mm, two emergence profile diameters and prep height of 8mm. The other is the Modifiable abutment, (SKU#T-4IMA-01) which is an abutment with a wide emergence profile that can be re-shaped to the desired form for individually fabricated cementable crown and bridge restorations and telescopic crown restorations. Implant axis divergences of maximum 20° are compensated by inserted bridge restorations and suitably adapted forming. The modifiable abutment is available in a 6.5mm emergence profile for platform diameters 3.4mm (3.25mm diameter), 4.1mm, 5.0mm, and 6.0mm.

The hex engages the implant’s anti-rotation geometry, so the abutment is indexed to the fixture and will not spin under function. A flat side on the axial wall gives the crown a positive path of insertion and a repeatable seat for try-in. Supplied with a titanium fixation screw.

Which implants use the 4.1mm platform?

The Certain 4.1mm seating surface is found on 4.0mm diameter Certain implants and on platform-switched implants whose reference number reads 5/4. On a 3i platform-switched designation the second figure identifies the prosthetic platform, not the implant body — so a 5/4 implant restores on 4.1mm components, not 5.0mm. If you are unsure which platform is in the mouth, send the implant reference number or the surgical record and we will identify the platform before you order.

Clinical notes

• This SKU is the locking (engaging) design only — the hex is always engaged, and there is no non-locking version of it. Where a non-engaging component is needed there are two routes on the 4.1mm platform: the bar abutment for laser welding (T-4ICA-12) for screw-retained bars and fixed-detachable frameworks, or the castable non-hex abutment where the component is to be waxed and cast. Neither indexes to the implant hex, so both tolerate the inter-implant divergence that defeats a locking abutment on a splinted span.
• Choose collar height against soft-tissue thickness measured at the deepest point of the sulcus, so the cement margin finishes at or just below the free gingival crest.
• Horizontal reference grooves on the body assist height measurement and controlled reduction when the abutment is prepared intraorally.

Recommended accessory

The Titan Implants Locator Pin (M1.6-ILP-22) is the correct pin for the Certain internal hex connection. Thread the pin into the fixture first to check parallelism and available height, then slide this component down the pin and into place — useful in posterior sites and wherever access or visibility is limited. Withdraw the pin and replace it with the fixation screw. The locator pin works with two-piece components only.

 Tips for Selecting the Emergence Profile and Collar Height

• Start with the healing abutment already in place — its profile and height often guide final abutment choice.
• Use the Titan Implant Locator Pin to verify parallelism and available height before final selection.
• Provide the lab with: implant platform size, soft tissue thickness, desired margin position, and photos/radiographs.
• When in doubt, select a slightly taller collar or wider profile — it’s easier to adjust than to add material later.

Match Emergence Profile Diameter to the Tooth Being Replaced

• Anterior teeth (incisors, canines): Choose a narrower emergence profile (e.g., 3.8–4.5 mm) for a natural, scalloped contour and better papilla support.
• Premolars: Medium profile (e.g., 4.5–5.5 mm).
• Molars: Wider profile (e.g., 5.5–7.0 mm or more) for proper occlusal table and proximal contacts. The emergence profile should create a smooth, concave-to-straight transition from the implant platform to the crown at the gingival level — avoiding overly convex or abrupt angles that trap plaque or cause tissue recession.
